Laraine Morris has been in the Hair and Beauty industry for over 40 years and has been teaching for more than 30 years. In this time she has worked as a therapist, lecturer, external verifier and business owner.
A few years ago Laraine identified a niche in the market for training aids for the beauty industry. She founded TLT Enterprises to research, develop, manufacture and supply these products, PTUs (Practical Therapy Units) to enhance professional training in all Beauty Therapy, Theatrical, Photographic and Media Make-up subjects.
The original TLT PTU range benefits from ongoing research and development as we update and extend our range of PTUs, in line with new treatments and qualifications to meet the advances in technology.
The VTCT endorsed PTUs streamline the learning process and benefits the learners by:
Enabling the learner to perfect skills and services.
Building confidence, which significantly reduces training time and fully engages the learners throughout every practical session.
Providing access to learners of all levels, ages and skills sets to the world of Beauty Therapy.
Bridging the gap between theory and the practical application of those theories on models.
Colleges find the TLT PTUs to be:
Cost effective and beneficial to their Recruitment, Retention and Achievement figures.
Helpful, improving classroom management by keeping learners engaged.
Supportive, enabling greater group interaction with full tutor support.
Effective in tailoring the learning experience to facilitate changing classroom requirements, which gives tutors greater flexibility.
Market demand is ever increasing for highly skilled, qualified therapists and the pressure on colleges to provide them is just as great. Keeping learners engaged in expanding class sizes, combined with additional financial constraints on institutions, makes training aids such as the TLT PTUs a crucial and cost effective addition to the modern classroom.
Our product range, present and future, reduces reliance on other methods that are outdated, time consuming and impractical in today's learning environment.
Learners will perfect probing skills and current control before working on live models. The learners increased confidence and skills will reduce the risk of white ring burning and scarring.
Tilly is a very versatile tool that can be used in a multitude of ways for learners studying at all levels. Tilly can be used for Facials, Hopi Ear Candle, Indian Head Massage, Auricular Therapy and Lash Application. The Tilly Head forms an attachment for our extensive range of training Masks.
When using the TLT unique UV Mapping tools, Tilly's uses are endless. When working Micro-current for the non-surgical face lifting techniques, for example, positioning of the probe is vital for accurate muscle identification, which when working on a live model will stimulate contraction and lift. Using the Tilly head in this way gives the learner confidence in their treatment application.
The TLT UV Mapping tools can be used on Tilly for face mapping, pressure point location and auricular therapy.
Tilly and the entire range of TLT PTU are life-like and should be handled with great care. TLT advise that the TLT PTU are stored in the specifically designed TLT PTU Storage bag.
Use of Products and Equipment:
The TLT PTUs should be handled in the same way that you would handle a live model; with the utmost care. Whilst their primary use is for learners to perfect their treatment application, gain confidence and learn new techniques, the TLT PTU also encourage the learner to apply the same level of client dignity as they would a live model.
Use of Products and Equipment:
We recognise an expensive salon product is wasted on Tilly and the TLT PTU, as unlike a live model the TLT PTU are not organic and do not have an allergenic skin. Therefore changes to the skin's condition post treatment will not be evident, as you would expect to see on a live model, and you will obviously not get any client feedback as to the effects of the medium used.
The TLT PTU can be cleansed using any of the cleansing products that would normally be acceptable for use on human skin. For demonstration and practise purposes exfoliating scrubs and masks can be used directly onto the TLT PTU surface without causing damage, simple warm soapy water will also effective to cleanse the TLT PTU. We recommend the use of Anti-bacterial wipes to reduce the risk of cross infection prior to use.
Use of Electrical Equipment
The TLT PTU Electrolysis Probing Mask and Underarm and Bikini Probing Pad are excellent tools for the learner to perfect their probing techniques. There is no benefit in the current being used and therefore we advise the current is switched OFF whilst working with the TLT PTU Probing materials.
